Good Morning!
I hope everyone is happy and well and still supporting impoverished independent authors?!
Firstly, let's get the standard apologies out of the way in respect of the delay in updating this blog.
Unfortunately, the writing had to take a back seat for a while due to my ill-health and bucket-loads of stress! I can honestly say that this year has been truly dire and much of the health stuff has truly taken me by surprise. Seriously sleep deprived and in constant agony, I could barely string a few words together let alone write a book...but a recent injection has helped ease the pain a little and I've finally made progress not only with hospitals and consultants, but also with novel number 4!
And the good news is...I have today completed the (embarrassingly rough) first draft! Hallelujah!
Without giving too much away at this stage, I can reveal that this as yet untitled offering is all about Kim and her rollercoaster of a relationship with lusted-after pop star Ritchie Joe Clarke.
From her teenage years when he adorned her bedroom walls to that first spectacular gig...from their beginning to their end...and the years in between when the crowds screamed, the juices flowed and Kim risked losing her friends, her family, her heart and her mind all for the love of Ritchie...
You're going to need the tissues for this one, I promise you!
It's no secret that I adored a certain band and spent much of the late '80s and early '90s touring the country, abandoning all hope of a normal life! Or that I had an absolute favourite within that group from day 1! Hence my fourth novel was born - but it honestly is a work of fiction and my real-life adventures only provided me with the spark of an idea. However, I have certainly been able to draw on my own experiences of loitering about in the freezing cold during the depths of winter for hours on end by stage doors, not to mention spending every last penny I had on tickets, travel and merchandise. I've slept in cars, underpasses, police stations and the grottiest of B&Bs for the love of this band so I can certainly empathise with Kim when she takes her dedication to another level!
So...a publication date? Well I have many hours before me of re-shaping and editing and I am still on the lookout for that elusive agent and publisher which means the agony of submissions and awaiting responses thereafter.
Tentatively, I'm going to say after Christmas but please don't shout at me if you have to wait a while longer!
I'm been trying to reach a target each day of 2,000 words and although that's not always been possible, it's actually seen me gain a lot of ground. Editing is another matter though...time to invest in more coffee and biscuits!
As soon as I have any more news I'll post it on here...keep those peepers peeled!
Take good care of yourselves and wrap up warm because it's FREEZING!
Much love,
Antonia K. Lewis
